Note plant habit, a short, highly branched shrub.
Common in some desert transition communities, including
Blackbush scrub and some Pinyon Pine - Juniper woodland.


Note that the branches/buds, and therefore the leaves, are opposite in arrangement.
Flowers have a hypanthium, like all Rosaceae.
