Diagnostic Features:
Plant an annual, about as broad as tall; roots reddish; flowers bracteate; calyx aposepalous; corolla relatively broad, limb 1.5-4 mm wide, appendages conspicuous, yellow,
each with basal cluster of pendant, ellipsoid bodies; fornicular bodies present; nutlets lance-ovate, acuminate, 1.3-1.4 mm tall.

Insect identified by Emile Fiesler as the bee-fly Conophorus fenestratus, Bombyliidae; it visited many flowers and is a likely pollinator.
